There Is Nothing Wrong With The Messenger

This week has been really good, on Sunday night after I sent my last email we went to a devotional where we watched a talk by Elder Bednar. The whole talk was about if we were converted to the Lord. He shared a couple of stories about how if we want to be strong in the church we need to be converted to the Lord and not just have a testimony, now matter how strong it is. We need to become more Christlike. Instead of turning towards ourselves when we are going through hard times or when things don't go our way- we need to turn outward, to serve others like Christ would. We are CALLED TO SERVE.
Another thing I learned about in a workshop was something said by Elder Ballard. He said something along the lines of "There is nothing wrong with the messenger." Each of us are meant to be the way we are and need to open our mouths. When we share the gospel with others, we shouldn't be afraid because there is nothing wrong with us. No matter what weaknesses or strengths we have we are meant to help others and serve however we can.

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Mexico City temple this morning- and do a Spanish session. They gave us headphones so we would understand what they were saying, but when we spoke we spoke in spanish. When we were waiting to begin the session, one of the temple workers said that in case of an earthquake (because earthquakes are common here) don't stress because the Temple is the safest building. They have been fortifying it and strengthening it everyday due to sinkage and earthquakes. But not only is the temple the safest place physically, it is also the safest place to be spiritually. When you are in the temple you are at the best place you can be- in a place where you know your father loves you, and you are as close to him as you can be.

One of my favorite scriptures that I read this week was Psalms 23- I recommend you all read it! Or re-read it.
I was able to be a part of the CCM choir this week and it was amazing. We sing our songs in Spanish, and there are over a hundred of us that do it usually. The power and love behind each of the words is inspiring to me, and I loved feeling the spirit in that way.

One thing I learned about in my personal study this week was from a talk called "Are you the woman I think you are?" One thing in this talk was this- the verb COME implies an action. When we come unto Christ, are we acting on our  faith? Are we doing all we can? Are we doing anything? Because of this part of my personal study, the question for this week is: What does it mean to come unto Christ? What are you doing to come unto Christ each day?
I truly love this gospel, and I am entirely grateful for its influence in my life. I don't know what my life would be like without it. I know that through this experience I will be able to become the person that I want to be! I can't wait to see what person I am after I return from my mission!
