Loving Father

Image
This week I refocused my studying to the scriptures, so that I could focus on my own thoughts and personal revelations! And I feel that this week's study topic came at the perfect week: Thanksgiving! This week I studied how God is our Loving Heavenly Father. A talk I liked was "the father" by Elder Ashton from the October 2018 conference. All throughout my study I kept finding the word everlasting. God really is everlasting, he knows all, is all powerful, and is always there to give us aide! His work is everlasting too- "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." His work is to help us become like him... just like our own fathers here on earth. This study came at the perfect time because I have been able to refocus my mindset on how God is truly my father. Which made me think about my own father! I am eternally grateful for him, and everything he has ever done for me! I know that when he picked me back up, told me that I was fine, gave me a hug t...

Doubt Your Doubts

This week I studied a little about the priesthood, and a little about the power of doubt. I was teaching a lesson to a friend and we got onto the subject of the priesthood, and he asked why women can't hold the priesthood. And I honestly didn't really know, I ended up talking about how Adam came first and he was given the priesthood, and that was just kinda how it was... something that was kinda hard to explain in English was very hard in Spanish! But because of that, it was a question that I had- something I wanted to find the answer to! I learned that the priesthood was the power by which God the father, and Jesus Christ created the earth, and it is how he governs the earth and the heavens right now. We have that power on the earth today, we have the potential to do these things- we just don't yet know how, or have the faith to do so. Also priesthood authority comes from ordination, but priesthood power comes from righteousness! As I strive to remain worthy to use the pri...

Be Intentional

Image
This week I studied two different topics: being intentional and how I can purify my heart. These two topics are surprisingly connected...  Here are the things I really liked: - living with a purpose: the importance of real intent (2015 devotionals) -obedience- full obedience (Brewerton 1982) -opening our hearts (Lund 2008) -clean hands and a pure heart (bednar 2007) I didn't learn a ton about being intentional, besides the fact that it is so important! Here is why: first in the words of sister craven "if you want to know anything, you have to do something." Everything that's worth having takes effort, and by doing the small and simple things we will know. But... doing isn't enough- in the devotional that I shared above, it expresses the need to have the right goal. Because where your eyes are set, is where you will go. One of the stories shared in this devotional is about a young man who is in seminary. They are told to finish the book of Mormon. Every time that s...

To Be A Pupil

Image
This week I decided to study discipleship, and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. There was a lot that I really liked, but this is an email, and long emails are kinda boring... I think you should all try and study discipleship- especially what it means to you. Here are some talks that I loved from this week: - a disciple, a friend (Edgley April 1998) - a child and a disciple (Eyring April 2003) - faith to act and become (Schmeil Oct. 2021) - your great adventure (Uchtdorf Oct. 2019) In the Bible dictionary, it says that a disciple is two things: a pupil or a learner. We are all still learning, still growing, still trying to be like Jesus. Christ is the master teacher, and when we are his diligent student, we cannot be led astray. The Bible dictionary also says that disciples are all followers of Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter what you are doing in your life, whether you are a new mom, general authority, 8-year-old just baptized, or a missionary. If you are following J...
