Cured Through Christ

This week I studied Humility!! My favorite scripture of the week was Deuteronomy 8:2! "And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no." This mission is a part of my wilderness, I know that I am here to be humble, prove, and so that God can know what is in my heart, and if I will keep his commandments! I particularly like the part "which the Lord they God led thee." He will always guide us- every step of the way! President Boyd K. Packer said “No member of this Church—and that means each of you—will ever make a serious mistake without first being warned by the promptings of the Holy Ghost." I know that he is by our side! I invite you to ponder if you are in the wilderness that will humble and prove you! And if you are, show to God the love in your heart, and the desire you have to keep his commandments!

Here is my favorite talk from this week:
- Pride and the Priesthood (Uchtdorf Oct. 2010)
The definition of Humility that I liked best was from gospel topics, "it is an indication that we know where our true strength lies." In the talk by Uchtdorf he said "we don't discover humility by thinking less of ourselves: we discover humility by thinking less about ourselves." When I was in the MTC they talked about how you are truly converted to Christ when you look outward whilst being in your own trials. Look around you, who can be lifted up today? Who could use a smile, or a hug? "By design, the Lord chooses the weak things of the world." You may feel like you can't make a difference- but someone needs you today! Go find them!
"Humility enables us to be better parents, sons and daughters, husband and wives, neighbors, and friends" (Snow, Apr. 2016). This week we were teaching a friend about temples ans some of the blessings we can receive by making covenants there with our Beloved Heavenly Father- and because of this... I have been thinking about my future family, and how I can better grow and become the person that they need and deserve! When I read this quote, it made me excited to work on it, and take a step to prepare for my future family!
The last quote that I loved from this week was also by Uchtdorf! He said "leadership in the church is not so much about directing others as it is about our willingness to be directed by God." I have always loved leadership, so I just loved that haha! Use that as you'd like!

Over the past couple weeks I have been studying the different things that have to do with Christ in the Topical Guide. While I was reading, I found 1 Nephi 22:25. "And he gathereth his children from the four quarters of the earth; and he numbereth his sheep, and they know him; and there shall be one fold and one shepherd; and he shall feed his sheep, and in him they shall find pasture." I particularly love that last bit, "and in him they shall find pasture." We will all find pasture and freedom through Jesus Christ, and only through him!

As for my subject, I was sitting in zone conference, and I had this thought... Jesus Christ is my BROTHER! I've had a couple times where I was really home sick, and this is my cure. I've thought about how far away my family is- super far... I don't know how many miles. But, since Jesus is my Brother, only a part of my family is far away. Christ is right here with me, holding me up, guiding me, comforting me, and loving me. Know that you are never alone, and that Christ is always there with you feeling every single emotion and thought that you feel and think- he is there to help you!

I got to bake this week! It was really quick, and not as much or as perfect as I would like, but I got to make some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! My companion and I, and the other two sets of missionaries that are in my ward, did a little family home evening for our ward, and for our friends... so I got to make a treat! It was so nice! And I definitely miss it, but baking isn't going anywhere and it will be there waiting for me when I get back... so who is gonna want some cookies?

Other fun stuff that we did this week: a free car wash, FHE, and FZE (family zone evening). The ward FHE was a blast, we thought that we had to plan it, so we did haha- but our ward mission leader had planned it too! He had assigned a spiritual thought, and someone to bring a game! And brought ice cream! The game was with balloons! The first one was where we tied the balloons to our feet using string and you were out when someone popped your balloon! It was super fun.. but scary since I was in a skirt. The second game was also with balloons, but we split up into teams and raced to pop the balloons as we sat on the chair (my team won). But it was so fun! I love this ward! Not a ton of people came- but it was the first time we had done it! And it was the start to a monthly activity! Family zone evening was super fun too! It is just a zoom call where we do an activity, we played charades with book of Mormon stories! I think you all should do it for a family home evening sometime!

I love you all so much, and I hope that one day, when I return home, that I can give each of you a hug! Until then, I give you hugs from afar! LOVE YOU!

My question of the week is: What desireth thou? What rewards are you seeking? Earthly or Heavenly?
