Irving Cares

I'm finally in a new area... Irving, Texas. My new companion is Hermana Parry- she and I went to the MTC at the same time, so I have met her before! She's from Smithfield... so only 30ish minutes from where I live! My area is called east shady Grove. And it's about 10 times smaller than my last area- and it's a biking area! Can you believe it? Biking is pretty chill, besides the fact that I'm always tired now, and my bumb is kinda sore. But it's fun to be out and about! We exercise at a high-school track, which is fun, but hard to stay motivated to work out. We did service twice at this place called Irving cares. It's a place where people give food donations and they organize it and help people get what they need. So we organized and put bags together for them to give out.

I studied about commitment- because in preach my gospel a missionaries success is primarily measured by our commitment. And sometimes it's hard to feel like a successful or confident missionary. But here's what I learned: when you are committed to something, you aren't doing it out of obligation. In Romans 6:17 it says that "ye have obeyed from thr heart." That is what is most important. As a missionary, I'm not here out of an obligation, I'm here because  I love the gospel. When we help our families we aren't doing it out of obligation- we love them. And that's how relationships last, we do things from the heart.
I was in church this Sunday, during Sunday school, and I was a little overwhelmed with meeting so many new people and trying to remember their names. And I started to recognize a pattern in my thoughts- they were things that I wanted to share. And that realization was such a tender mercy. It was nice because it was a mini reminder that I loved this gospel-  because I wanted to share it.
In doctrine and covenants 36:7 it uses the phrase "singleness of heart." Singleness is the quality of focusing on one central objective. When we are focused on the good things, desiring the good things- our hearts can be single.
Lastly, a scripture that I really loved this week is D&C 58:28. "For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in no wise lose their reward." As long as we are trying to follow Jesus Christ, trying to better our relationships, trying to ... we will be blessed, and our efforts will not be for nothing. I challenge you to make an extra effort this week to do good in one area of your life, I know that you will see results. Maybe not in the way you think, but blessings will come.

My weekly question is: What is your one objective?
