Cinnamon Rolls

I'll explain why cinnamon rolls is my email title. One thing I remember about general conference when I was younger is that my mom would make cinnamon rolls. In the October conference I was homesick for those cinnamon rolls. This general conference for the Saturday morning session a senior missionary couple invited us to watch it with them... she bought cinnamon rolls to share with us for breakfast. It was a small thing, and she has no idea how much it meant to me. It was just a little piece of home. It was a tender mercy. Thank you Sister Wintch.

This week I studied the commandment to pray often. In the Garden of Gethsemane and also when he fasted for 40 days he was aligning his will with that of his father. The Bible dictionary states that "we pray in Christ's name when our mind is he mind of Christ, and our wishes the wishes of Christ." I'm trying to make this seem less like a really heavy scripture based talk but, remember Nephi (son of helaman) and how he was given the sealing power. Because God knew that he would not ask for anything that wasn't in accordance to his will. Prayers can be sooo powerful. But only when they come from our heart. The "Father knoweth what things [we] have need off, before [we] ask" (Matt 6:8). It doesn't say the things that we need... although he knows those too... when we pray and align our will with God's we will receive what we want. It's that easy. What we ask for can be what we get. Just think of what it says during the sermon on the mount or in 3 Nephi 14:7-12.
What's really important about prayers is that it comes from our heart. "And our wishes the wishes of Christ." This is why the Holy Ghost is so important. When we listen and truly pay attention to the Holy Ghost, we will know the will of the Father for us. And we will be able to do as Moroni says: "with real intent" (Moroni 7:6). Because if we don't we will just be like the Pharisees and Sadducees, who pray to be heard of men. Because if our wish is to be heard of men, if our treasure is in the earth... that is what we will get. And God will not hear us.
But as I've said in past emails, and even already in this email... prayers are powerful. And if you take the time to pray when you need and with your heart. You're prayer will be answered and you will get what you need.

This week I learned how to make oatmeal pancakes and some sort of Easter pastry called Capirotada... which consists of soggy bread.
I haven't done anything crazy this week, but I hope you all made General Conference weekend special and that you will take the advice from Elder Stevenson and make this Easter season special!

My question for this week is: What does Easter season mean to you, and what does it inspire you to do?
