Whats Underneath Your Sink??
Happy Mothers day!!!
We had zone conference this week... and we talked about true love. More specifically we talked about how true love always has high expectations. We can see this in our own earthly relationships as well as our relationship with our Loving Heavenly Father.
During Zone Conference our AP's gave a really good analogy that I'd like to share with you: Rock Climbing!!! They had a good picture to explain it better. But when you're rock climbing there is one person that is the lead climber and they put in place the lead rope. That was Jesus Christ; that was his condescension. The people after use the lead rope to guide them and to catch them when they fall. That's us. There is also the person at the bottom who is holding rope so that just in case we slip or we need help finding a grip he can help us and catch us. That's also Jesus Christ. He does all of this out of Love. But just because he loves us, doesn't mean that we don't have to do anything. We still have to decide to put on the harness, hook on the carabiner, and climb the mountain; We still have to keep the commandments, and strive to be better. If you know more about rock climbing, maybe this will make more sense, but I think it's a perfect example of how we have high expectations. In Doctrine and Covenants 59:1-4 it talks about the saints. In verse four it says "they shall also be crowned with blessings from above, yea, and with commandments not a few." The commandments are a blessing, and a sign of the true love that God has for us.
This also shows that the better we are, the more commandments we will recieve, they are blessings, they are help! For example think of the sermon on the Mount, and in 3 Nephi, he gave them a higher law because they were already keeping the law of Moses. So next time that you are looking for more guidance... keep the commandments, and God will give you more expectations (guidance).
But sometimes the expectations can be overwhelming, and we can feel unable to do them. President Farley gave us a suggestion: to look for the love in every high expectation. Because when it comes to God or a Parent, their expectations for us come out of their Love for us. And if we find the love, it will be a little easier to keep fulfilling that expectation.
It's kinda crazy that true love was the topic for zone conference because my study topic this week was... the law of chastity!! I had a couple scriptures stand out to me from my study. First was 2 Nephi 9:14, "being clothed with purity" but what does that mean? In Proverbs 31:25 we get an answer. "Strength and Honor are her clothing." Wow, imagine being clothed with strength and honor? What would that mean to you? I also really liked Alma 38:12. I've always focused on the first half, "bridle all your passions" but because of the true love topic I really focused on the second half, "that ye may be filled with love." This poor world that we live in is searching for love and support in ways that they can't find it, at least not true, everlasting love. But we can find it in Chastity, and high expectations! Because "virtue loveth virtue" (D&C 88:40)!!
I can't answer what is underneath your sink... but this week I finally caught 2 rats! What a crazy day! We were just about to leave for zone conference when I decided to check the rat traps because we had heard them a ton that morning... and when I looked and I moved some stuff out of the way... I said "Hermana... I see fur." Haha it was crazy! Not only did we catch one but 2 in one trap! There was one that was really big... and dead. But the other was a little smaller... and still alive. But eventually I found the courage to grab a plastic bag, grab the trap and walk to the dumpster in our apartment complex. And can I just say, Dad, I hope your proud!! The funniest part is that I was doing it in a dress and heels. Just imagine that haha!
I couldn't put the video on here haha, because it was too long, but here is a link to watch it! It's at the end of the album!
