Learning Life Lessons...

So... I'll tell you the life lesson that I learned this week first. Just to mix things up. Let's get a little bit of a background on my life real quick: I don't really like bugs... or little crawly things. I've gotten kinda used to cockroaches and if they are smaller I can kill them. But nothing prepared me for what happened Friday morning. I walked out the door of our bedroom, to do our work out, walked across the room to turn the light on since the other light still doesn't work... I walk back to get my water bottle and just before I put my hands on floor to attempt a couple push-ups... I see a little white crawly thing... I look further and see another, and another.... I look all over the floor and there are about 100 little white crawly things all over floor. My worst nightmare. I might have even cried a little... but only my companion will know. To make a scary story better... they were maggots and I learned that flies laid eggs in our trash...yay.

This week was a weird one for my studies... I studied 1 Nephi 8 and what really stood out to me was the importance of families and temple work. I love verse 12 how Lehi desires his family to partake of the fruit as well. Exaltation is a family matter, and I know that heaven wouldn't be the same without my family.
I also was reading in 2 Corinthians 12 and thought it was interesting how they talked about weakness and strength. To me, it was saying that our weaknesses can be strengths if we use them to help ourselves be humble and rely on the Lord... to become as little children. I really liked that.

We had to say goodbye to our friend that I talked about last week... sadness. But she's in a safer place now. But I'm confident that we were there for her when she needed us most.

...but... I tried out the tres leches recipe... and it was good! I was kinda worried, but the other missionaries loved it!

Most importantly... Happy Father's day! I'm so grateful for all of the amazing father figures I've had in my life! Thanks dad for everything you've ever done for me and continue to do for me! I love you!!
