Being "Ready"
This week I studied a talk by Gary E. Stevenson: Spiritual Eclipse. I loved it. It started off with the question: "how is it possible that the very source of our warmth, light, and life could be so greatly obscured by something comparatively insignificant in size?"
A solar eclipse is when the moon and the sun are in the perfect position so that in some places of the world, the sun us completely obscured. The sun is 400 times bigger... and 400 times further away than the moon. And just like the sun, our Loving Heavenly Father can seem so far away, and the daily inconveniences and challenges can seem so very close. And sometimes when we focus so much on those challenges it seems like He is so much further. Elder Gary E. Stevenson called this a spiritual eclipse. The cool thing about a solar eclipse is that there are only some places where it is a complete solar eclipse, when we know one is coming or can come, we can choose where to be, we can choose to stand in holy places... :). One way that Elder Stevenson said we can avoid spiritual eclipse is through maintaining a eternal perspective. Remembering that we are meant to have trials and that they won't last forever if we rely on Jesus Christ. One way he told us to do that was to heed the prophets...
I also studied a little about prophets and I love the first chapter in Jeremiah, specifically verses 10, 18, and 19.
"For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee." (Vs 18-19) The prophet is the only person that we can trust in 100 perfect to guide us back to our Heavenly home. He is a defenced city, of which when we trust, we will never be led astray.
This week I really don't know what has happened.. I'll try to list a few things.
- I got put in Facebook jail (I'll explain if you ask)
- I got asked if I was omish
- We snuck into an apartment complex to try and contact a recent Converts...
