The 10 Virgins
This week was a complete switch from the last. Hermana Wilson sprained her ankle on Monday... so we moved a little slower this week. But honestly it was a blessing since last week was crazy!
This week I studied about being ready. I dove into the stories of the 10 Virgins and Ester. I really enjoyed learning more about the story of the ten virgins, and there is pretty much one scripture that sums up what I learned: Doctrine and Covenants 33:17. "Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom." Honestly this is an equation of how to be ready. We have to trim (cultivate, trim) our lamps (testimonies), they need go be burning (we need to be passionate about the gospel) and we need to have oil with us (the Holy ghost). I loved this.
Testimonies are vital to our spiritual well being. We can see that in Matthew 25:12 when the bridegroom says "ye know me not." If we aren't cultivating our testimonies we will not know our Lord, we won't know when he comes. I guess we need to be prepared when tribulation comes, and even more for when Jesus comes again.
Yah... as usual I don't really remember what happened this week, they tend to pass really fast. But I went on an exchange and tried a gordita... pretty good. We had zone conference that had a range of good topics! We talked about how we need take our training (personal study) seriously so that we can be as ready as navy seals to share the gospel, the godhead, temple garments, and spiritual promptings. It was a good zone conference.
Bonus spiritual thought: those of you who have seen the princess bride... remember the seen if when Iniga Montoya is searching for the man in black and tells his father to guide his sword. Sometimes we are like that in life. We tell our Heavenly Father to guide us and sometimes we feel like we just run into a tree. Well... remember that sometimes gods plan isn't what we think, and doors will open for our efforts to trust in him. :)
Also! Just a heads up! There was a change in missionary standards so we can now only email or write to those who aren't immediate family! So if I don't answer you... sorry! But I still love you!
