How To Find Peace:)
Once again, my studies were all over the place this week... but I really liked talk from is past conference: "Sir, we would like to see Jesus." I loved how well this talk explained that it's so easy to get caught up in not being able to do something. I thought of the phrase "you always want what you can't have." But if what you can't have is something that would hurt you or not make you feel good or happy, why would you want it? There are so many things today that tell us that rules are just rules and that they are frustrating, especially "extra rules".
This week we were teaching a recent convert about the word of wisdom, and we started to talk about just how much of a blessing the commandments are and these "extra rules" are. I know that I don't feel happy when I'm hurt or I don't feel good, so what if I could predetermine what would damage my body or my spirit. We can, since God loves us he gave us the blessing of having the commandments.
Just like it said in the talk we need to "seek his face," His true face. Because when we find him, all we will see is charity. We will see his love.
This week I learned how to make another Spanish dessert: flan! It was fun, and actually really easy.
Our friend Jonathan also was baptized! I'm so grateful that it all went good, seeing how the gospel has changed his life has really made me so happy, after his baptism he sent us the cutest message. I'll include a photo of it! The gospel really does help people find joy and peace. My friend Jonathan has so much going on at home, and he told me over and over again that the times that he has felt peace is in the church, reading the Book of Mormon, and talking with us. You can find peace too, you just have to try it out.
We were un-exhanging at a Quick Trip and a random guy pulled up in a car and asked if he could pray for us... it was really a curious experience.
