Why Did The Sciencer Go To The Moon?
Im honestly grateful for this week, I recognized places where I really wanted to better and I'm really excited to work on them. I'm glad that life constantly gives us opportunities to improve, so that I'm not a flat character.
But honestly, that was bound to happen since Elder Schmutz of the Seventy came to our mission and taught us. I was pretty lucky to have the opportunity to hear from him 3 different times. Revelation is real, and is so key to the Church of Jesus Christ. We, ourselves, need to recieve revelation for our own lives/families to maneuver the new trials of life. Its something we have to rely on. But that's not it, we also need it for the Church's progress. The restoration is still in progress, just like our own conversion, and our prophet and leaders are constantly receiving revelation to guide and direct us to Christ.
For example, think of Joseph Smith and all of the knowledge he restored. That's a lot. Now think of our current prophet, he is still adding on to what we know.
I found this quote, I really don't remember where... "The most important knowledge to be gained in this life is that which comes by revelation through the Holy Ghost." I know that to be true, and I can't even count the times that I have left a personal study feeling enlightened, maybe for truly understanding a scripture for the first time, or a part of the doctrine of Christ. But I know that Revelation is real and it guides each of us.
Elder and Sister Schmutz taught us a lot, and I wasn't kidding about new goals, I feel like I'm sprinting to become the person that I want to be. If you are more curious about what they taught us about, let me know and I can give you more information.
Some elders in my district and my companion and I tore down a gazebo thing... it was fun. It started pouring rain in the middle, but I enjoyed it.
We also had dinner with our Ward Mission Leader and his family this week and his two boys were so funny. One is 4 and the other is 6. They spent most of the dinner trying to tell us jokes they made up. Here was my favorite: "why did the sciencer go to the moon? Because he had a bear in his tummy!" It's even better if you imagine it in a 4-year old voice.
I also got to have a lesson with Israel! The last transfer the area got split, and he lived in the new elders area, but I got to teach him. And I really just got to see how the gospel has blessed him. When I first met him, he was so shy and I didn't see him smile as much, but in that lesson we were joking around a little and laughing, and I'm so grateful that I get to have a front seat to see how the Gospel blesses people!!
